Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK), a subsidiary of METALLOINVEST, won second prize in the “Labour Market Development by Production Companies” category of the All-Russia contest “Russian Enterprise of High Social Effectiveness”.

The award ceremony was held at a meeting of the three-party commission on regulation of social and labour relations in the House of the Government of the Russian Federation. Sergey Shkurikhin, HR Director OEMK, received the award from the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov.

The contest commission took into account OEMK’s various social initiatives, including programmes to enhance social wellbeing, improve labour safety, provide medical services for employees, assist with employment and encourage personnel adaptation.

Svetlana Steshina, HR Director METALLOINVEST, commented: “OEMK has implemented a comprehensive approach to labour market development with the provision of high quality working conditions and leisure facilities, in addition to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Despite the challenging environment, arising from the global financial crisis, METALLOINVEST continues to develop social programmes.”

OEMK is one of the major and modern enterprises forming a company town in the metallurgical industry in the Belgorod region of Russia.

Sergey Shkurikhin, HR Director at OEMK, commented: “OEMK develops two types of programmes for labour market development. The plant invests in the improvement of working conditions, and assists in professional training, within the framework of a private-state partnership. We are glad that our social policy has been recognized and awarded at the “Russian Enterprise of High Social Effectiveness” contest for the eleventh time.”
