History
1974 – The Soviet Ministry of International Trade in Moscow and a group of Western Germany firms signed the Cooperation Agreement to build in the USSR a metallurgical complex plant on the basis of MIDREX direct reduction technology.
1975 – The Soviet Council of Ministers signed the decree No.821 “On the construction of «Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant».
1982 – First oxidized pellets were received in the Pellet Plant.
1983 – First Direct reduction plant was put into operation.
1984 – First industrial heat was carried out in the Electric arc furnace (EAF No.1).
1987 – Rolling mill No.1 was put into operation.
1992 – OEMK’s steel products (cast blooms and rolled bars) were certified by TUV CERT Berlin-Brandenburg (Germany).
1993 – Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant acquired a status of an Open joint-stock company JSC “OEMK”.
1995 – OEMK’s Quality Management System was certified by TUV CERT Berlin-Brandenburg (Germany).
2001 – The 25-millionth ton of steel was made in the Electric Arc Furnace Shop; first product was received on Rolling Mill 350: a 12-mm rod.
2002 – Rolling Mill 350 complex facility was put into operation (Rolling Mill № 2).
2003
- German auditing company, TUV Rheinland/Berlin-Brandenburg, finished the audit of the Quality Management System to ISO-9001, new version.
- International certifying authority, a Norwegian company Det Norske Veritas, issued to OEMK an ecological certificate confirming compliance with the international standard of Environmental Management System ISO 14001.
2004
- OEMK received the Winning Company Diploma on the industrial competition “A Russian enterprise of high social effectiveness”.
- OEMK received a certificate of conformance of the company’s Quality Management System with the international standard ISO/TS 16949:2002.
2005 – OEMK became winner in the category “Industrial economy sector” of the federal contest “Golden Tower” organized by the Unified Energy System of the Russian Federation under the auspices of the Russia’s Industry and Energy Ministry.
2006
- OEMK successfully passed the audit of compliance of the management in the area of “Occupational Safety and Health of Workers” with the requirements of the international certification OHSAS 18001-1999.
- The annual general meeting of OEMK’s shareholders took a decision to transfer the powers of a sole executive body to Management Company METALLOINVEST.
2007
- OEMK was included into the five best rolled stock producers according to the ranking of “Metal supply and Sales” magazine which was composed upon the results of the polls intended to educe Russia’s best producers and traders in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- OEMK confirmed compliance of the products quality to the Lloyd’s Register Rules requirements.
- JOEMK became the winner of the contest “A Russian Organization of High Social Effectiveness” in the category “Personnel development”.
- OEMK’s Quality Management System successfully passes the recertification audit to confirm compliance with the international standard ISO/TS 16949:2002.
2008
- OEMK became prizewinner in the 7th all-Russia’s contest “A Russian Organization of High Social Effectiveness” in the category “Enterprise of high social effectiveness”.
2009
- launched two-position steel complex processing facility (AKOS №3).
- Рassed second ISO 14000:2004 Environmental Management System audit.
- Section rolling plant №1 began installation of the new ultrasonic complex.
2010
- OEMK completed the construction of the finishing plant
- OEMK awarded with the golden medal and the laureate title of the “Metal Expo-2010” exhibition for the construction of the finishing plant
- OEMK successfully completed the recertification audit procedure and confirmed the compliance of its Quality Control System with the ISO 9001:2008 international standard requirements.
